What is a Bond?
Much like a homeowner borrows money to purchase a home, school districts borrow money in the form of bonds to invest in new construction and finance improvements to school facilities. Bonds are approved by voters in a bond election, then sold to investors in the competitive investment market to raise money to pay for capital needs.
The 2019 Dumas ISD Bond provides appropriate solutions to tackle many of the District’s most critical needs. With these improvements, the District will be able to continue its tradition of exceptional education into the next decade.
By The Community, For The Community
The Dumas ISD Facility Advisory Committee recommended Trustees consider a bond proposal after the group spent five months studying the district’s most critical facility needs.
This group of 36 parents, grandparents, graduates, staff, business owners, elected officials, ministers, and community members volunteered and donated more than 820 hours to examine needs and develop a plan.
Prior to submitting their recommendations to the Board, the volunteers did their homework:
- District Overview
- Enrollment Analysis and Trends
- Instructional/Program Needs and Possibilities
- Campus and Facility Tours
- Facility Needs Assessment
- Cost Predictions for Renovations and New Build
- Financial Capacity and Impact
- Project Prioritization
